Family Friendly Hotels
It usually takes me about 4 or 5 days to choose a hotel for my family because I like to do extensive research in order to pick the perfect room. I always check on www.tripadvisor.com to see the reviews of other past guests. If a hotel receives a large number of bad reviews I will not bother to stay there. When booking hotels I always check www.arestravel.com first as their rates are usually lower than other hotel reservation sites. I have young kids so the more space they have to run around in the better! Value definitely is a factor since we are usually on a tight budget. A room with a microwave or refrigerator is a must ! Complimentary breakfast is always great! And a balcony is definitely a plus! When you have kids a standard room just won't do !
Grandstay Residential Suites (Oxnard , CA )
When my family visited Santa Barbara I was not able to find a cheap hotel in or around that city. I stayed at this hotel and it was about a 45 minutes drive to Santa Barbara. It had a full size kitchen and a seperate living room. I liked everything about the room except for its size. It's kind of on the small size compared to the other places that we have stayed. What I also liked about this hotel is that the back part of it is the pool, kids play area, half size basketball court and a small miniature golf area. At least there was something for the kids to do rather then being stuck in the hotel room. They also had a free continental breakfast but please check with the hotel as that may have changed. There is also a gas station next door with a convenience store.
Mission Inn ( Pismo Beach )
601 James Way, Pismo Beach, CA 93449
If you plan on traveling along the California coast then you should stay at this hotel as I found it to be the best value. As you will find out the hotels along the coast are pretty expensive and this one is located along highway 101. At the time of our stay a hot breakfast buffet was included but that may have changed so please check with the hotel first. The room was large with nice decor and included a microwave as well as a small refrigerator.

Staybridge Suites near San Francisco (San Bruno, CA )
I have to say that Staybridge Suites is definitely #1 on my list of best hotels especially this location!! The next time I visit San Francisco I will definitely stay here! It is only 15 minutes away from San Fran. I love the convenience of the Chuck E Cheese across the street as well as a mall and a shopping center with Albertsons!!! All within walking distance !!! We paid about $20 more for the two bedroom suite so that we can have the extra play space for my kids. It has a full kitchen 2 bedrooms each with it's own bathroom and a pull out sofa bed. It is definitely much better than where I live now in a one bedroom. I did not want to leave!! Hot breakfast is also included but that may have changed so please check with the hotel first.
Woodfin Suites near San Francisco (Emeryville, CA )
This is where we stayed while visiting San Francisco. The hotels in San Francisco are pretty expensive and the rooms are usually small. I opted to stay outside of San Francisco for a larger room and cheaper rate. This hotel has a yummy breakfast buffet for a small charge per guest and there's also a great international food court across the street!!

We had a two room suite at this hotel and it was awesome! The suite was big with 2 bathrooms and it had a large balcony as well ! The view from our room was of the lazy river and it was just gorgeous at night all lit up! We had a buffet brunch in the morning and then enjoyed the lazy river in the afternoon.

Woodfin Suites ( San Diego, CA )
When booking hotel rooms I like to book on Arestravel.com. They seem to have the best rates but not always so be sure to comparison shop! The rooms at Woodfin Suites are almost the size of a one bedroom apartment so there's plenty of room. There's a balcony as well and as you can see from the photos below we saw hot air balloons from our hotel room as there is a launch pad near by. The room also has a small kitchen with refrigerator, stove, and cooking utensils. If visting San Diego I would suggest going in the Summer as they have the San Diego County Fair and it is only about 10 minutes from this hotel via freeway.
